The Ontario Ministry of the Environment has issued an order against Pamour (TSE) which requires the company to take certain steps in relation to an incident last October near Matachewan, Ont., involving an old tailings site.
Heavy rains caused a lake to overflow into the tailings site of Matachewan Consolidated Mines (TSE), which led to tailings flowing on to area lands and into a creek and the Montreal River.
Pamour, controlled by Royal Oak Resources (TSE), said it leased the mineral rights to the Matachewan property but has no involvement in the tailings. The company said it will dispute the order.
