What can you say about a man who has spent 43 years with the same newspaper, who has outlived more than a few of the mining operations he has written about, and who has almost as many stories about the industry and its many characters as there are grassroots projects?
For M.R. (Mort) Brown, who became an octogenarian in November, this issue of The Northern Miner is his last as a regular contributor. Mort, who has been on a 3-day-per-week schedule the past few years, officially retires from his publisher emeritus position at the end of the year.
How Mort will adjust to retirement we’re not quite certain. Somehow though, we don’t think our readers have heard the last of him. All the best in retirement, Mort, and may your pencil, typewriter or personal computer ever stand ready for the recording of your thoughts.
