Partners Western Copper Holdings (VSE) and Thermal Exploration (ASE) are encouraged by trenching results from zone 12 on the Williams Creek property northwest of Car-macks, Yukon.
Five trenches, spaced 300 ft. apart, returned mineralized intervals ranging from 25 ft. grading 0.70% copper to 95 ft. grading 0.61% copper. The zone extends for a strike length of 1,200 ft. and remains open to the north, where it strikes into a linear magnetic anomaly similar to the anomaly associated with zone 1.
Zone 1 is estimated to contain reserves of 11.6 million tons grading 1.08% copper and 0.01 oz. gold per ton. Additional economic mineralization has been found at the south end of this zone.
To date, the partners have completed a total of 10,000 ft. of trenching in 20 trenches. Drilling is scheduled to begin in the first week of August on several targets including extensions of zones 1 and 12 and a separate mineralized area called zone 4.
Preliminary metallurgical test work consisting of bottle roll tests and column tests indicates recoveries of 75-85% for the malachite-rich mineralization.
