I last wrote to The Northern Miner in January, 1981 asking for the address of Nicoba Mines Ltd., a company which I own shares in. You were very kind to send me the address. Can you now tell me if Nicoba Mines is still active? S. M. Kovac St. Louis, Mo.
Nicoba Mines was one of the many inactive junior resource companies controlled by Messrs Banting and Becker of Toronto, Ont. It has not been active in mineral exploration for over 20 years.
Nicoba had mineral properties in the Lynn Lake area of Manitoba in the mid 1940s. During the early 1980s, its assets consisted almost entirely of common shares in Comstock Keno Mines.
The corporate shell of inactive Nicoba Mines was the object of a reverse takeover in 1987, and the name was then changed to Better Business Communications Inc. This company has subsequently been taken over by Maclean Hunter Ltd.
You should contact the transfer agent on the back of your share certificates if you want to cash in your old shares.
