Peacock Inc. of Mississauga, Ont., has been appointed the Canadian distributor for Air-Maze filtration products. Air-Maze is a Cleveland, Ohio-based manufacturer that developed the first oil bath filter and the original air/oil separator for air compressors. Fruehauf and Trailmobile have merged into a new company called the Fruehauf Trailer Co. Headquarters are in Brantford, Ont. Joy Technologies of Pittsburgh, Pa., has amalgamated its Canadian operations into one business unit. Ecolaire Canada has been combined into Joy Technologies Canada and will conduct business under the Joy Technologies Canada banner. The Canadian head office will remain in Kitchener, Ont. Joy Technologies produces equipment and provides services to mining and other industries. Komatsu Ltd. of Tokyo and Dresser Industries of Dallas, Tex., have formed a joint venture for the engineering, manufacturing and marketing of construction and mining equipment in the Western Hemisphere. The entire range of Komatsu equipment, most of which is now imported from Japan, will be obtained from the former Dresser and Komatsu plants in the U.S., Canada and Brazil. The new company includes the operations of Dresser’s construction equipment division (based in Libertyville, Ill., and which has plants in in Galion, Ohio, and Candiac, Que.), Dresser’s Haulpak division (based in Peoria, Ill., with another plant in Cambridge, Ont.) and Dresser’s Brazilian company, based in Mogi. For the past 40 years, Sandvik Coromant rock-drilling tools have been exclusively distributed by Atlas Copco. However, after Aug 1, 1989, Sandvik will assume responsibility for distributing Sandvik products, and these tools will no longer be available through Atlas Copco or its representatives. Sandvik says the change was necessitated by Atlas Copco’s recent purchase of Secoroc AB, Sandvik’s largest competitor in rock drilling tools. A revised 6-page brochure from Eriez Magnetics describes its full line of magnetic, vibratory and metal- detection equipment and services for solving product- handling and processing problems. Eriez is based in Downsview, Ont. An 8-page, color leaflet available from Atlas Copco Canada carries details and illustrations of the Broyt excavator loader. The publication describes the unit’s no-wheel drive undercarriage, super-structure digging attachments, reach and hydraulics. The Broyt is manufactured by Brown Engineering of Norway but is sold and serviced by Atlas Copco.
