I have subscribed to your paper for more than 25 years and have always eagerly read it, but was I ever astounded and disgusted to see in your Aug 15th issue the sole “Letter to the Editor” headed `Madeleine’s mystery mine’ from a Mr Staelens in Belgium.
Reading your copy of July 25th, the article by your Mr Brown, which we hope was accurate, how could you print Mr Staelens letter? R. B. Sullivan Toronto, Ont.
Editor’s note: We have received many comments expressing similar confusion. Mr Staelens wrote his letter before our July 25th issue was published and therefore he hadn’t had the opportunity to read the article on Madeleine Mines. His letter, however, was published after the July 25th issue and that is what has caused much of the confusion. Many of Mr Staelens’ questions were answered in that article of July 25.
