Freewest Resources has acquired an option on claims held by Noranda Exploration in the Harker- Holloway area north of Kirkland Lake, Ont. Freewest has the right to earn a 32% interest in the Noranda claims by spending $559,000 on exploration before Dec 1. To date, Freewest has spent $200,000. Drilling completed on the property in 1986 and 1987 has yielded several encouraging intersections. The best includes hole 87-7 which cut a 6.2-ft section grading 0.28 oz gold per ton. Another 4.3 ft in the same hole assayed 0.42 oz. Another hole, 87-9, intersected 8.5 ft grading 0.17 oz.
Based on these encouraging results, the partners have started an 11,000-ft drill program which is testing three target areas.
