Wollastonite discovery

NYCO, a division of Processed Minerals Inc., has made a signi- ficant discovery of wollastonite near Lewis, N.Y. Exploration near the company’s operating wollastonite mine was initiated in 1986. Drilling led to the discovery of the Oak Hill deposit which doubles the company’s reserves. Wollastonite is used as a speci- alty and surface-modified rein- forcement for plastics and industrial coatings. NYCO produces milled, high aspect ratio and fine particle grades of wollastonite for the U.S. market. NYCO is the world’s largest producer of the mineral.
