The World Mines Ministries Forum will attract hundreds of government representatives and mineral sector stakeholders from around the world.
Slated for March 13-15 in Toronto, the event is timed to follow the annual convention of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada.
Discussions and presentations are expected to address: ways to create a positive investment climate; geoscience; governance; sustainable development; and voluntary codes of conduct.

Aggregates show in Las Vegas
Conexpo-Con/Agg provides a showcase every three years featuring the latest in equipment, services, product design, and technological advances for the construction, aggregates and ready-mixed concrete industries.
The event is scheduled for March 19-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
In 1999, the conference drew 20,000 visitors, mostly from North America.
This year, there will be more than 2,300 exhibitors, using more than 1.9 million sq. ft. of exhibit space.
CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2002 will also provide educational sessions on a variety of industry issues and trends, management, and information technology. Select sessions will be translated into various languages.

Val d’Or to host vein symposium
Long-hole mining and other techniques suitable for narrow-vein deposits will be discussed at a symposium slated for Oct. 1-4 at the Cofortel Hotel in Val-d’Or, Que.
Variations on the long-hole method will be discussed, including captive sub-levels, highly mechanized mining and the “Avocat” method. Two operators will share their experience with horizontal long-hole mining.
Technical and research papers are expected to address ore dilution, de-stress blasting and paste backfill applications, and an entire session will be devoted to economic models involving narrow-vein mining.
