Canarc proves up Benzdorp deposit

Drilling by Canarc Resource (CCM-T) has intersected significant gold on its Benzdorp property, 300 km southeast of Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname. The drilling was focused on the JQA prospect.

One hole cut up to 400 metres grading 0.48 gram gold per tonne. This was the entire length of the hole. Between surface and 120 metres down-hole, the grade averaged 1.14 grams gold.

Another hole graded 0.52 gram gold per tonne over 238 metres.

Two holes graded 1.01-1.14 grams gold over widths of 24-44 metres from surface. Over their full lengths, these holes cut 256-315 metres grading 0.45-0.55 gram gold.

One hole returned two intervals 10 and 12 metres wide which graded 1.01 and 1.08 grams gold, respectively. Overall, this hole cut 169 metres grading 0.6 gram gold beginning at surface.

Thirteen holes (3,984 metres) tested the JQA prospect, which spans 500 by 500 metres. Holes were drilled through saprolite, and eight cut the underlying porphyry stockwork. In a 200-by-200-metre area, the zone was extended up to 350 metres in depth.

Copper mineralization appears to be sporadic. Five holes cut multiple zones grading 0.1-0.2% copper over widths of 9-134 metres. Hole 50 cut 0.1% copper over 224 metres, including 18.3 metres of 0.29% copper. The hole also intersected 58 metres (from surface) grading 0.65 gram gold.

JQA is one of 12 prospective areas identified by Canarc along the eastern portion of the 1,380-sq.-km Benzdorp property.

Canarc has an option to acquire 80% of Benzdorp through its subsidiary, Benzdorp Gold. The remaining 20% will be held by the government of Suriname.

Results from preliminary metallurgical tests are pending, and more drilling is planned.
