SUPPLIERS NEWS ROUNDUP — Codelco hires Kvaerner

The South American division of Kvaerner has been awarded a US$17-million contract to upgrade the processing circuit at the Radomiro Tomic copper mine in northern Chile.

The firm will design and oversee modifications to the crushing, leaching and solvent extraction-electrowinning circuit. Owner Codelco will spend a total of US$200 million to increase production to 256,000 tonnes of copper cathode per year from 180,000 tonnes.
