Edwin Phillips is the new chairman of Cheni Gold Mines (TSE), whose key asset is the producing Lawyers gold- silver mine in the Toodoggone district of northern British Columbia. Phillips, chairman of Westar Group and a former chairman of Westcoast Transmission Co., succeeds Malcolm Taschereau who recently resigned from Cheni.
Cheni is a member of a group of mining companies around the world sponsored by the Bureau de Recherches Geologigues et Minieres (BRGM) of France, an agency of the French government.
