Excellent progress is reported by Diamond Fields Resources (TSE) at its Voisey Bay nickel-copper-cobalt project in Labrador.
Stepout drilling and geophysical surveys east of the known area of mineralization have expanded the size of the zone.
A hole drilled 100 metres east of hole 2 intersected a 50-metre section of disseminated-to-semi-massive pyrrhotite, pentlandite and chalcopyrite, starting at 52 metres below surface. Assay results from the hole are pending. This intercept, coupled with results from the previous four holes, has extended the known strike length to more than 800 metres.
Ground magnetic and horizontal loop electromagnetic surveys indicate that the previously defined geophysical anomaly may continue to the east and widen into a oval feature 300 metres in diameter. The oval anomaly is said to have the same conductivity and magnetic response as the drilled sulphide zone. Also, southeast of the anomaly, an east-trending conductor has been outlined. The conductor, which remains open to the east, will be further investigated with other geophysical surveys.
Both the anomaly and the conductor have yet to be drilled.
In addition, preliminary metallurgical tests on composite material from the first four holes indicate that good recoveries of copper and nickel can be obtained using standard flotation methods.
Based on these results, Diamond Fields has directed an independent consultant to outline a development plan so as to advance the discovery towards a full feasibility study.
