U.S.REPORT Cyprus’ drilling spurs more work

Exploration work is continuing on Savanna Resources’ (ASE) Santa Rosa zinc property under option to Cyprus Metals Exploration in Inyo Cty., Calif. To date, Cyprus has completed an IP (geophysical) survey as well as extensive remapping and sampling of the old mine workings. A total of six deep diamond drill holes had been completed with encouraging results.

The first three holes, which were drilled vertically at 250-ft. intervals, encountered sections of disseminated zinc mineralization ranging from 80 ft. to 190 ft. thick. At least one 28-ft. section graded 15.7% zinc, while hole 3 intersected a skarn vein with chaclcopyrite, sphalerite and minor galena at a depth of 1,000 ft. below surface.

Meanwhile, on Savanna’s Turner-Albright polymetallic property, Cominco American has initiated a detailed reinterpretation of all existing geophysical data. The company is also re-logging previously collected drill samples and conducting a preliminary correlation of geophysical data with known mineralization, geochemistry and geology.

The 1991 exploration program will include development of deposit models, extensions of the soil sample grid, additional geophysical surveys and follow-up of exploration targets by drilling.
