A zone of alteration with massive sulphide mineralization has been intersected on the Fer property in northern Manitoba, reports Canmine Resources (CDN).
The new zone, termed the Prism, is on the Collins point area of the property, about 1.5 miles from the Fer zone. The Prism has a coincident 1,968-ft.-long transient electromagnetic conductor.
Hole Fer 36, drilled vertically into the zone, intersected 100 ft. of quartz-sericite-chlorite alteration and contained a 1.6-ft. section of 1.03% zinc and a 14-ft. section grading 0.68% zinc, 0.03% copper, 0.16% lead and 1.11 oz. silver per ton.
Subsequent drilling suggests the alteration and massive sulphide mineralization widens in the down-plunge direction. A second hole (Fer 37) intersected eight feet of 2.36% zinc and 0.31 oz. silver. Three additional holes have been completed and assays are pending.
Canmine believes the Prism zone is the zinc-rich cap of a much larger massive sulphide deposit, along the lines of the Geco orebody in Manitouwadge, Ont. Drilling is continuing and the company plans to carry out down-hole pulse electromagnetic surveys on Prism, and on the Yak and Spruce zones where previous drilling also intersected base metal mineralization.
