NEWS ROUNDUP — Placer to drill Oregon gold play

A 5,000-ft. program is to begin shortly on the Stockade Mountain gold property in Oregon, report partners Placer Dome U.S. (a unit of Toronto-listed Placer Dome) and Carlin Gold (ASE).

The drilling will test a major northwest-trending, deep-seated structure with massive alteration sinter and extensive silica and clay alteration. The structure is believed to be the extension of the famous Carlin Trend in Nevada.

Placer, the joint-venture manager, will focus its attention on the 4,500-ft.-long central structural zone where previous drilling intersected ore-grade mineralization at both ends of the zone.
