John Zigarlick, former vice-chairman of Echo Bay Mines, will discuss the challenges of Arctic transportation at an April 30 luncheon here of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).
Zigarlick is president and chief executive officer of Pilot Shipping, which manages logistics in remote areas of northern Canada and Russia. As he did at a CIM luncheon in Toronto in February, Zigarlick will draw on his experiences at Echo Bay. The company has operated a mine in harsh Arctic conditions for more than two decades. He is expected to discuss winter road haulage.
Largely through Zigarlick’s efforts, logistical support of ocean shipping into Coronation Gulf, N.W.T., is under way.
