President Brian Hinchcliffe of Jordex Resources (TSE) was an active buyer of his company’s stock in August, purchasing 35,000 shares at 80-85 cents to hold one million directly and 1.23 million indirectly. The junior recently traded at $1.25 in a 52-week range of 65 cents-$1.35.
Following a summer drill program on a Venezuelan nickel laterite deposit held by a Jordex subsidiary, Anglo-American Corp. of South Africa was granted a 90-day extension on its option to purchase majority control of the property. The Loma de Hierro deposit contains reserves of 22.8 million tonnes grading 1.8% nickel.

Caledonia Mining (TSE) — D.S. MacLeod, chairman and president, bought 20,000 at 35 cents to hold 3.17 million indirectly.
Golden Star Resources (TSE) — David Fennell, president, bought 75,000 for $2.85 to hold 384,056 and was granted 200,000 options to hold 250,192. Societe Miniere Louvem (TSE) — Jean Depatie, director, exercised 15,000 options at $2.52 and sold 15,000 shares at $3.40-3.45 to hold none. Moneta Porcupine Mines (TSE) — John Larche, chairman and director, bought 487,805 to hold 5.7 million. He also bought 421,052 convertible debentures privately at 19 cents and sold 487,805 to hold 587,710 debentures. Mountain Beaver Resources (CDN) — Harvey Tremblay, president, sold 100,000 at 28 cents to hold 605,000.
Rhonda Mining (ASE) — Peter Gummer, president, sold 9,400 at $5-5.13 to hold 25,400. Savanna Resources, holder of more than 10%, bought 46,400 at $5-5.63 to hold 2.16 million.
United Reef Petroleums (TSE) — James Wigley, director, exercised 180,000 options at 10 cents, then sold 160,000 shares at 12-42 cents to hold 20,000. Uranium Resources (TSE) — Louis Durbin, chief financial officer, sold 5,000 at US$2.75 to hold 316,942.
