Westmin ups reserves at Battle, Gap

Recent drilling success by Westmin Resources (TSE) has resulted in a 19% increase in minable reserves for the Battle and Gap zone discoveries at the Myra Falls mine property near Campbell River, B.C.

Proven and probable minable reserves now total 2.02 million tonnes grading 1.3 grams gold per tonne and 50.3 grams silver, plus 2.1% copper, 0.5% lead and 10.8% zinc. The bulk of this reserve, some 1.5 million tonnes, is contained within the Battle zone.

Preliminary reserves in all categories for both zones are now estimated to be close to four million tonnes.

The updated reserve does not include results from a recent hole drilled from the 18-level ramp of the H-W mine which pushes the Battle zone margin an additional 100 metres to the east. The ramp is being driven from H-W, one of two mines on the property, to provide development access for the Battle and Gap zones.

The hole returned a 9-metre intersection grading 0.5 grams gold and 12.4 grams silver, plus 0.4% copper, 0.4% lead and 16.8% zinc; as well as an 8.3-metre

intersection grading 0.9 grams gold, 32.6 grams silver, 1.9% copper, 0.4% lead, and 17.2% zinc.

The bottom part of this hole has not been assayed, and a new hole to test the area was recently started.
