Claim staking and optioning around Birch Lake, Ont., have allowed Milestone Resource (COATS) to increase significantly its ground position in the area. The company has optioned 46 claims from Falconbridge Ltd. and has staked 60 claims covering several known gold showings. This month, Milestone intends to drill about 1,200 ft. within a gold zone discovered by Falconbridge.
Meanwhile, nine holes on Milestone’s Shabumeni gold property have identified a gold-bearing shear zone. Although the shear zone is up to 20 ft. wide, auriferous sections within the zone range from one to three feet.
Gold mineralization encountered in the drilling has been traced for a strike length of 300 ft. and to a depth of 200 ft., and remains open along strike and at depth. Results of the drilling include: Width Assay Hole (ft.) (oz./ton) 90-13 2.3 0.08 90-14 2.0 0.10 90-16 1.0 6.16
Assays are pending on four more holes, and Milestone is considering future work on the property.
