This year’s selection will be administered through The Mining Association of Canada which, on behalf of the CMHF, is soliciting nominations from the four sponsoring organizations, as well as from its 13 country-wide associated organizations. The Hall of Fame will not accept nominations directly from individuals.
Each sponsor is eligible to nominate up to five individuals, while each associate will be able to nominate one. The final selection will be made by the hall’s board of directors, which plans to induct eight people from the list of candidates — four living and four posthumously.
The names of unsuccessful nominees will be kept strictly confidential and they will be eligible for re-nomination in a later year, according to M aurice R. Brown, chairman.
At last year’s inaugural induction ceremony, 12 of Canada’s mining greats were honored. A mobile display unit of their portraits has already been shown or is on request for six mining-oriented gatherings. A permanent home for a duplicate display unit may soon be found, Brown hopes.
