The quarry is situated in basalt, not rhyolite as stated. It has been noted elsewhere in the area that silicified zones or rhyolite-like zones in basalt may carry gold. Our program was to check the quarry area for possible silicified zones. Two other small points: The No. 12 deposit was found in 1953, not 1954, and the orebody dips 75 degrees to the west, not the east. I only had a few minutes to talk with your reporter, so this may explain some of the errors that appeared. William M. Luff, Chief Mine Geologist, Brunswick Mining & Smelting
