Stope development at Skyline Explorations’ Johnny Mountain property in the Iskut River area north of Stewart, B.C., has encountered some very high grade gold values in the Discovery vein.
Chip sampling has outlined an ore shoot grading 1.7 oz gold per ton over an average width of 8.7 ft along a strike length of 46 ft at the 1,129 horizon, notes Skyline President R. E. Davis. In addition, he says that chip and test hole results from the 1,132 elevation lift returned an average grade of 1.7 oz over a true width of 22.2 ft. Cominco Engineering Services is rumored to be providing technical assistance to Skyline for the project which The Northern Miner understands includes some mine planning. Because of the nature of the deposit, working places are expected to be limited; should this be the case the company would have difficulty feeding its mill.
