High-pressure slurry pumps, manufactured by geho Pumps of the Netherlands, are now available in Canada. The company has established an office in Schofield, Wis. and has formed a new company — geho Pumps. The pumps will be marketed in both Canada and the U.S.
The company’s pumps, ideal for pumping mine backfill, hydraulically hoisting ore or for dewatering old mines, are piston and piston diaphragm models, designed for pumping highly abrasive slurries. They operate on the duplex double-acting or triplex single-acting principle so that the slurry is separated mechanically from the pistons, cylinder liners, and so on, by means of rubber diaphragms. Capacities range up to 3,750 (us) gallons per minute with discharge pressures up to 5,000 lb per sq inch. The slurry can be concentrated up to 85% solids with viscosities up to 5,000 centipoise. Efficiencies are as high as 94%, according to geho, and noise levels are below 82 decibels. The pumps can handle slurries with temperatures up to 359 degrees F and a ph from one to 14, the company reports.
The pumps will give continuous service for between 8,000 and 16,000 hours. The only parts subject to normal wear are the valves.
