A new mineralized zone has been discovered in latest drilling by Pacific Minesearch on its Howie gold project near Charlotte, N.C.
The 16,000-ft drill program has concentrated on delineating reserves in two gold zones, the Callow/Cureton and Klondike zones.
However, Hole 87-38, drilled in the No 14 zone, about 1,300 ft east of the Cureton shaft, intersected 10.7 ft grading 0.273 oz gold per ton. This included 3 ft of 0.633 oz and 2.7 ft of 0.578 oz.
Combined with other results, this latest hole confirms the existence of a significant zone of mineralization to a depth of 600 ft and a strike length over 200 ft in a portion of the property previously regarded as a low priority target, the company says.
The project is a joint venture with Cominco America. Pacific Mine search must spend $2 million(US) by the end of 1989 to earn 50% of Cominco’s 75% interest in the former producing property.
