A contract worth about $10 million has been signed by Longyear Canada Inc. of North Bay, Ont., involving diamond drilling on the Lindsley base and precious metals property of Falconbridge Ltd. located northwest of Sudbury.

The best results to date came from an earlier hole, B51B, which intersected 255.5 ft grading 2.3% nickel, 4.4% copper, 0.12% cobalt, 0.11 oz silver, 0.07 oz gold, 0.08 oz platinum and 0.27 oz palladium per ton.

Six diamond drilling rigs are to be used, with drilling to reach to 6,000 ft. The contract will run for 18 months.

The Lindsley property is in Blezard Twp. and is situated about 20 km west of the mining company’s Sudbury-area smelter.
