Marker, Varna begin $2.5 m drill program (November 16, 1987)

Marker Resources and partner Varna Resources have started a $2.5- million diamond drilling program on projects in Newfoundland and Manitoba. Varna and Marker plan to amalgamate shortly.

In Newfoundland, Selco has started drilling the Jackson’s Arm property in which Marker and Varna have the right to earn a 50% interest. Drilling completed by Selco last year outlined a large area of anomalous gold values grading up to 0.038 oz gold per ton.

The current program will test several high grade gold occurrences scattered about the property. Grab samples range from 0.2-1.9 oz, Marker says. Marker and Varna also hold an 80% interest in ground adjacent to the Selco project. Another 1,500-m drill program is in progress on the Huxters Pond base/precious metals property, also in Newfoundland. Marker can earn a 50% interest in this property.

Drilling is also planned for the Twin Lakes project in Mantioba. The 25,000-acre property covers several geophysical targets associated with surface gold showings assaying up to 0.7 oz, Marker says.
