Gordon Cameron, who was instrumental in forming a number of junior mining companies including Camflo Mines, has died at his home in Gatineau, Que.
Cameron, who was born in the Cobalt-New Liskeard area of Ontario, and attended the Haileybury School of Mines, was involved in prospecting and mine development all of his adult life. He eventually became a diamond driller, and founded and operated the Cameron Drilling Co. in Malartic, Que.
In addition to his earlier efforts with Camflo, he also served for a number of years as vice-president operations at Manitou Barvue Mines.
He retired in 1979, and is survived by his wife, and two sons.
