A series of shallow drill holes have been completed by Lacana Mining Corp. on the California Lake project, south of Bathurst, N.B. Partners include American Ore, Sparton Resources and Lynx-Canada Explorations.
Drilling followed up trenching completed in 1986, which has identified several tabular silver-bearing breccia zones striking for 1,200 ft. The silver zones are within a 100-ft wide alteration zone, Lacana notes. Assays from trenching ranged up to 21 oz silver per ton across a true width of 15 ft.
In addition to the drill program, ground geophysical surveys were completed which outlined extensions of the zones. Silver mineralization is fine grained and associated with minor amounts of lead- zinc sulphide mineralization.
