Reserves are expected to increase at the Big Missouri gold project operated by Westmin Resources after several drill holes cut wide sections of above average grade. Located near Stewart, B.C., the property is held in joint venture with Tournigan Mining Exploration, which holds a 30% interest.
The best section came from hole 86-9 which cut 96 ft grading 0.31 oz gold per ton in the S-1 zone. Another hole in the same zone intersected 91 ft assaying 0.247 oz. Both drill sections, which cut the shallow dipping deposit, are close to true width.
“The increase in grade will really help,” A. E. Soregaroli, vice president of exploration at Westmin says. Current reserves in four potential open pit deposits total three million tons grading 0.075 oz gold per ton and 0.95 oz silver. A new reserve calculation will be completed by year-end, to be followed by a production feasibility study starting in the New Year.
