Vancouver — The discovery of two new zones of mineralization is expected to boost the resource of
Three holes tested 400 metres of the strike length of the Breccia Ridge zone, and one of these, hole 15, intersected 251.5 metres grading 64.5 grams silver per tonne, 0.56% lead and 0.84% zinc at a down-hole depth of 76.2 metres. Included in the intersection were 176.7 metres of 80.1 grams silver, 0.7% lead and 1.13% zinc.
At the Javelina Creek zone, 800 metres to the northeast, hole 4 intersected 27.3 metres grading 136.6 grams silver. Results from six other holes at Javelina Creek are awaited.
In total, Silver Standard has drilled 3,650 metres in 22 holes in its latest phase of work, and metallurgical tests are under way.
“We are starting to see diamond-drill evidence of the upper levels of a classic epithermal system similar to other Mexican silver-lead-zinc districts,” says Ronald Burk, the company’s chief geologist.
The two other zones outlined, Cordon Colorado and Pena Dyke, have a combined resource of 16.5 million tonnes grading 113.5 grams silver, or 60.2 million oz. There are also 4.8 million tonnes grading 85.1 grams, or 13.1 million oz., in the inferred category.
