Anmercosa drills gold

Anmercosa Explorations, a subsidiary of Anglo American (ANGLY-Q), has drilled several shallow gold intersections at the Razorback licence in the Lupa goldfields region of southwestern Tanzania.

Rotary air-blast drilling targetted the Saza shear zone, resulting in the following:

  • 3 metres (from 2 metres) grading 30.39 grams gold per tonne in hole 325;
  • 8 metres (from 4 metres) of 4.8 grams gold in hole 328; and
  • 14 metres (from 4 metres) of 2.28 grams gold in hole 330.

Other intersections included 6 metres (from 8 metres) of 5.1 grams gold in hole 269, and 9 metres (from 21 metres) of 5 grams gold in hole 383.

Holes 330 and 383 ended in mineralization, and Anmercosa reports that follow-up diamond and reverse-circulation drilling will begin in late May.

Anglo can earn a 75% interest in the Razorback property by completing a feasibility study, with Serengeti Diamonds (SGD-V) retaining a 25% free-carried interest in Anglo’s interest through to feasibility. The remaining 25% interest in Razorback would be held by property owner Dhahabu Exploration & Mining Co. (Demco), which operates the small Saza gold mine on site.
