Gitennes proves up deposit

Determined to define reserves to a minimum vertical depth of 150 metres, Gitennes Exploration (GIT-A) is pulling encouraging results from underground drilling at the Virgen property in northwestern Peru.

The program is focused on the Rio Suro zone, an oxide body amenable to heap leaching. To the north and east is a separate zone of sulphide mineralization called Rio Suro Norte, and combined the two structures extend over 1,200 metres along strike, with widths varying from 220 metres in the south to 45 metres in the north.

Five holes were collared at drill station 3, with the following results: * Hole 7 cut 150.26 metres grading 1.1 grams gold per tonne, including 9.14 metres of 4.11 grams.

* Hole 8 intersected 76.01 metres of 1.95 grams gold, including 18.28 metres that ran 5.06 grams starting at a depth of 14.63 metres down-hole. Yet another intersection hit 96.63 metres down-hole, averaging 1.01 grams over 32.88 metres.

* Hole 9 returned 139.6 metres grading 1.42 grams gold, including two intervals that graded 5.48 and 3.52 grams over 12.19 and 12.8 metres, respectively.

* Hole 10 cut 129.54 metres of 1.5 grams gold, including an 8.83-metre interval grading 6.76 grams, followed by 15.24 metres of 3.24 grams.

* Hole 11 intersected 47.85 metres averaging 2.12 grams gold.

At drill station 2, three holes were put down:

* Hole 14 returned 52.96 metres of 1.52 grams gold, including a 12.2-metre intercept of 3.88 grams. Farther down-hole, at a depth of 77.91 metres, a 22.67-metre intercept was reported, averaging 0.82 gram.

* Hole 15 hit 49.83 metres of 2.25 grams, including a 17.38-metre interval that ran 5.38 grams.

* Hole 16 intersected 126.49 metres grading 2.73 grams, including 65.54 metres of 4.31 grams.

Only one hole was collared at drill station 4. Hole 12 intersected 130.06 metres grading 1.17 grams gold.

Gitennes says the holes demonstrate the continuity of the Rio Suro zone, which now extends for at least 600 metres along strike.

Originally, the zone was thought to be truncated by the Alumbre fault, to the east. However, several holes have encountered mineralization on the eastern side of the fault. The zone remains open to the south, as demonstrated by assay results from drill hole 12, which crossed the fault and drilled through more mineralization.

Metallurgical tests indicate gold recoveries ranging between 77% and 88%.

Gitennes is reviewing data so as to calculate reserves for the Rio Suro zone, and additional definition drilling is planned. The Virgen property is 180 km east of the coastal city of Trujillo.
