Gitennes steps out on Alumbre

Stepout drilling on the Alumbre zone continues to suggest to Gitennes Exploration (GIT-T) the existence of significant exploration upside on the Virgen property in north-central Peru.

The company released assay results for two holes collared 100 metres north of hole V98-61, which was previously reported to have encountered multiple intercepts of gold mineralization, including 46.87 metres averaging 1.54 grams gold per tonne starting at a downhole depth of 223.13 metres.

Hole V98-64, drilled due west at minus 60, intersected 17.27 metres averaging 2.56 grams gold, starting at a downhole depth of 97.2 metres, plus 48.45 metres averaging 0.64 gram gold, beginning at 210 metres.

Hole V98-66 undercut hole 64 at a minus-80 angle, hitting: 11.06 metres averaging 1.11 gram gold, starting at 9.94 metres; 145.55 metres averaging 1.05 grams gold and 4.5 grams silver starting at 108 metres, including an 88-metre interval averaging 1.43 grams gold and 6.3 grams silver; and 7.55 metres averaging 0.97 gram gold and 3.3 grams silver, beginning at a 303.2-metre depth.

A significant portion of the gold horizons is hosted by altered volcanic rocks. Gitennes reports that the host rocks and mineralization are traceable from hole to hole, and that mineralization thickens, and remains open, to the east.

Gitennes has begun underground diamond drilling on the southern end of the Rio Suro zone to test both high-grade and low-grade oxide gold mineralization for the purposes of reserve calculations and engineering. Drilling of 2,000 metres in 18 holes is planned.
