Birim advances Ghana prospect

Junior gold explorer Birim Goldfields (BGI-T) is carrying out mapping and channel sampling at its Bui property in central Ghana, following an encouraging program of soil and chip sampling.

More than 5,000 soil samples have been taken from 10 grids over selected segments of the 150-km-long sequence of Tarkwaian conglomerates. To date, results have been received for six grids, including the Brohani grid, where the company has outlined a 7,200-metre-long anomaly grading more than 0.5 gram gold per tonne. This anomaly, which remains open to the south, is defined by 18 lines spaced 400 metres apart, with samples collected at 25-metre intervals along each line. Over the length of the grid, several samples assayed better than 1 gram gold. Further results are pending.

Non-systematic chip sampling over an outcropping portion of the conglomerate unit yielded 4 metres of 16 grams gold, though chip sampling on adjacent lines returned lower values. Birim notes that because of the high quartz content of these conglomerates, no surficial enrichment is present.

The junior is currently focused on extending the Brohani grid another 4 km to the south, as well as carrying out mapping and channel sampling.

Birim has 17.6 million shares outstanding and a cash position of $3 million.
