Having spent US$1.6 million of the US$2 million required to earn a 60% interest, Barrick Gold (ABX-T) is withdrawing from a joint-venture aimed at exploring 11 properties held by Jordex Resources (JDX-T) in the Precambrian Shield of eastern Bolivia.
Jordex retains its 100% interest in the properties and plans to continue exploration work on its own.
On the San Javier group of concessions, some 45 km north of San Ramon, the company will focus on several geochemical and geophysical anomalies which remain untested. Only a third of these concessions has been explored to date.
Jordex also plans to explore several prospects at the 41,000-ha Chaco Lejos group of claims, which cover a greenstone belt some 30 km northeast of San Javier. These targets have yet to be drill-tested.
Exploration is also scheduled for the 12,200-ha Michelle concession, 30 km southeast of, and along strike from, Orvana Minerals’ Don Mario gold deposit.
