Teck prepares to drill in Labrador

The first major to become involved in the exploration play near Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, back in 1995, is beginning a drill program in the area.

Teck (TEK-T) will carry out a $5-million, 10,000-metre program on the South Voisey’s Bay project of Donner Resources (DRZ-V), where previous work by the latter indicated the presence of a troctolite system similar to that found at Voisey’s Bay.

Intensive ground geophysical surveys are also planned at the property, which is 90 km south of Voisey’s Bay.

Since September 1996, Teck has held almost 10% of Donner’s shares (17% fully diluted). It also holds an option to earn half of Donner’s interest in the South Voisey’s Bay project, which consists of roughly 4,000 claims shared with 12 different joint-venture partners. Donner’s interest in the claims runs between 25% and 100%.
