Drill results from the Tasisuak Lake property in Labrador have jostled the spirits of joint-venture partners Consolidated Magna Ventures (VSE) and Consolidated Viscount Resources (VSE).
Tasisuak Lake lies 50 km northwest of Voisey’s Bay, the site of Diamond Fields’ nickel-copper-cobalt discovery.
Drill hole C1-4, drilled at a 45 dip, encountered continuous, disseminated mineralization over 46 metres grading 0.25% nickel, 0.095% copper and 0.01% cobalt. The hole included a 3.5-metre interval grading 0.63% nickel, 0.35% copper and 0.02% cobalt. Hole C1-4B, drilled from the same setup at 70, returned multiple, mineralized mafics, including 11.73 metres grading 0.57% nickel, 0.15% copper and 0.02% cobalt.
The two holes are the southernmost drilled on the “C” anomaly, which is situated 500 metres south of recently drilled hole C3-7. That hole returned a 10.2-metre intersection grading 0.45% nickel, 0.16% copper and 0.02% cobalt, and included a 1.34-metre interval grading 2.1% nickel, 0.26% copper and 0.06% cobalt.
Holes C1-4 and C1-4B are about 50 metres north of Long Pond and on-strike with anomaly “A,” which starts on the southern shore of Long Pond.
The joint venture is conducting geophysics over the frozen surface of Long Pond in an effort to learn more about the two anomalies. Also, data from the property are being reviewed in preparation for the 1996 field season.
