Drilling is virtually complete at the Virginiatown, Ont., gold property of Armistice Resources (ME).
The 20,000-ft. program defined the extent and configuration of the 100N, 185N and 260N gold zones, above the 2,250-ft. level.
On the 100N zone, hole 16-23 (at the 1,650-ft. level) showed 0.263 oz. gold per ton over a true width of 5.5 ft.
On the 185N zone, hole 20-36 (at the 2,050-ft. level) reported 0.206 oz. gold over 24.2 ft., including 0.469 oz. over 6.9 ft. This confirms the upward extension of the zone above the location of the bulk sample taken in mid-1995.
In addition, drilling on the 1,450- and 1,650-ft. levels indicated the presence of several new zones north and east of the shaft.
One hole, drilled on the new 65N zone, showed 0.253 oz. gold per ton over a core length of 9.8 ft. A hole on the 120N zone reported at 0.133 oz. over a core length of 4 ft. On the 270N zone, a hole showed 0.189 oz. gold over a true width of 20.1 ft., while on the 275N zone, one hole reported at 0.297 oz. over a true width of 14 ft.
Armistice believes the new results indicate that the broad area containing multiple gold-bearing zones, which lies within easy reach of the existing shaft, actually extends from below the 2,250-ft. level to the 1,250-ft. level. In addition, the intensity of mineralization now appears comparable to the adjoining Kerr Addison mine.
Assays are pending on six of the 55 holes drilled thus far.
