British Columbia’s chief gold commissioner recently ordered that Eurus Resource (VSE) apply for abandonment and relocation of the PI and Delta claims within 30 days of the removal of the staking freeze currently in effect in the Eskay Creek area.
The claims form part of the Albino Lake project north of Stewart, B.C. They lie immediately adjacent and north of the IKS 1 and IKS 2 claims of Adrian Resources (VSE), which in turn are tied directly on to and partially surround the TOK 3-6 claims which host the bulk of the Eskay Creek deposits.
“In essence, this means that the chief gold commissioner has upheld this original staking of the PI and Delta claims and has provided Eurus with an opportunity to remedy technical deficiencies in the staking,” the company stated.
The PI and Delta are considered strategic in that they control the northern on-strike extension of the stratigraphy hosting the Eskay Creek deposits beyond Adrian’s property, although the stratigraphy on most of these claims is covered by younger sedimentary rocks.
The chief gold commissioner ordered the cancellation of the PHI claims, also part of the Albino Lake property, and Eurus is now reviewing the decision in order to decide whether it will appeal the order.
Eurus has appealed the cancellation of the Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Rho, Epsilon and Omega claims, once part of the Albino Lake property. These claims are now held by Tagish Resources, a private company which overstaked considerable ground near Eskay Creek on the basis of section 35 challenges under the province’s Mineral Tenure Act.
