LAST BUT NOT LEAST — Green light for Hedley tailings

With a mine development certificate in hand, Candorado Mines (VSE) is poised to start processing gold tailings near Hedley, B.C.

Using heap-leaching methods, a unit of the company plans to process tailings from the old Mascot mine. Candorado operates a heap-leach project in the area and plans to truck the tailings to its existing plant there. The number of truck trips will be restricted so as to accommodate local residents. Over two years, about 510,000 tonnes (grading 1.2 grams gold per tonne) will be processed, creating seasonal employment for about 30 residents. The certificate was granted following a public review involving local aboriginal groups and representatives of municipal, provincial and federal governments.
