Fairfield moves second shipment

A second sale of high-grade ore to Noranda (TSE) was recently announced by Fairfield Minerals (TSE). The 1,500-ton shipment is estimated to contain a minimum of 6,500 oz. gold.

The second sale is expected to be higher grade than the first shipment of 530 tons sold to the Horne smelter in mid-September, which yielded a minimum of 2,070 oz. gold. The two bulk samples, containing 8,500 oz. gold in 2,000 tons, were both mined and shipped from Fairfield’s 100% owned Siwash North deposit near Merritt in southern British Columbia.

Fairfield is designing a work program for 1993 that will take into account results from a recent reverse circulation drill program of 8,800 ft. in 79 holes. This program outlined additional near-surface reserves above the preliminary estimate of 220,000 oz. at the end of the 1991 season. An updated reserve is expected later this year.

Next year’s program is expected to involve excavation of an open pit which Fairfield considers to have the potential to produce 25,000-45,000 oz. gold. This will be followed by underground exploration, development and production in late 1993 or 1994.
