The price of copper is expected to hold firm, in the range of US90 cents-$1.10 per lb. in 1992, predicts the chairman of Phelps Dodge (NYSE).
Douglas Yearley, speaking at an American Copper Council meeting in Arizona, also forecast copper consumption to grow between 1.7% and 2.3% annually during the 1990s.
Yearley says he expects the strongest consumption growth markets to be in the Far East.
