SW Resources drills Boka 1 zone

Vancouver — Drilling by Southwestern Resources (SWG-T) continues to define the Boka 1 gold zone at the Boka project in China’s Yunnan province.

Results are in hand for 13 more holes drilled to test the zone on 100-by-50-metre centres. Three of the holes failed to intersect significant mineralization, but the others returned encouraging results. The best returned a 63.15-metre intersection grading 5.8 grams gold per tonne, from 234.75 metres to 297.9 metres.

The other results include:

– 21.7 metres grading 1.6 grams gold per tonne, and 21 metres grading 2.7 grams;

– 8 metres of 7.4 grams;

– 42.9 metres of 3.4 grams;

– 39.4 metres of 5 grams;

– 14 metres of 1.1 grams;

– 22 metres of 2.3 grams;

– 17.25 metres of 2.2 grams;

– 2 metres of 1.1 grams;

– 8.2 metres of 1.8 gram; and

– 24.5 metres of 3.6 grams.

Southwestern holds a 90% interest in the Boka project, where gold mineralization is associated with quartz carbonate and sulphide stockworks/veins in black carbonaceous shales, sandstone and gabbro, in shallow dipping shear zones.

The company is also exploring for porphyry copper-gold deposits in southwestern Yunnan province under the terms of a joint venture with a unit of Newmont Mining (NEM-N).

Newmont and Southwestern are also partners at the Liam gold-silver property in Peru, and Southwestern holds a zinc project and a porphyry copper-gold project in that same country.
