The Clio property is situated about four miles south of Sonora Gold’s (TSE) Jamestown gold mine in the California’s Mother Lode gold belt. Like United Gold, Sonora is a subsidiary of ABM Gold which in turn is controlled by Northg ate.
According to United Gold President Gerald Harper, the main Mother Lode gold zone on the property has been traced by reverse circulation drilling for a strike length of 1,200 ft and to a depth of 700 ft below surface.
Two high grade shoots have been identified. The southern shoot has been traced to a depth of 700 ft and yielded intercepts up to 0.154 oz gold per ton over an apparent true width of 73 ft. “The top of the northern shoot appears to end about 300 ft from surface,” said Harper.
United is conducting 3,000 ft of drilling to investigate the shoots at depth and gather structural and geochemical data which will enable the company to better evaluate the potential for mining using underground methods.
In other news, United Gold has purchased a 7.9% stake in Mintek Resources (VSE) of Vancouver. Mintek recently completed preliminary geophysical surveys and reverse circulation drilling on the South Boss joint venture in Esmeralda Cty., Nev. where the existence of a gold-bearing epithermal alteration zone has been confirmed.
