Fourth drill expected soon at Lamaque site

Miners are working on three levels and there are three drills operating, with a fourth expected shortly, at the Lamaque joint venture project at Val d’Or, Que., Tundra Gold Mines reports.

Tundra is earning a 50% interest in the project from Teck Corp. Tundra President Albert Applegath says his company will have spent $7 million in flow-through funding on the project by the end of this month. He forecasts more than $9 million (the sum required to earn the 50% interest) will be spent by the end of February or March, 1988.

Meanwhile, drilling continues. At the 3,200-ft level, hole No T-13850 intersected 0.49 oz gold per ton (cut) over 3 ft. At the 3,400-ft level, hole No T-13854 (down hole –45 degrees ) intersected 1 oz over 2 ft and 0.12 oz over 1.5 ft; hole No T-13855 (down hole –60 degrees ) intersected 0.6 oz over 11 ft and 0.12 oz over 3.5 ft; and hole No T-13860 (up hole from 3,400 ft) intersected 0.48 oz over 2 ft and 0.27 oz over 2.3 ft.

The reopening of the former producing Lamaque gold mine is expected in 1988.
