Former federal minister of mines, Judith Erola, has been appointed to the board of directors of Inco Ltd.
Erola is the second woman to be elected to the big nickel company’s board, an Inco spokesman said. The other, whose term on the board he said expires this year, is Dr Reva Gerstein, a Toronto psychologist and educator.
A native of Sudbury, Ont., Erola represented the Sudbury riding of Nickel Belt as a Member of Parliament, and was appointed to the cabinet of Liberal Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in 1980.
She is now president of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Canada.
