Two holes drilled by GeoNova Explorations (GNE-M) have expanded the potential of the Discovery gold zone in northwestern Quebec.
The new lens straddles the boundary between the company’s Desjardins and Borduas-Martel properties, north of Lebel-sur-Quvillon.
Hole 81 intersected 8.7 metres grading 1.5 grams gold per tonne at a depth of 295 metres, which includes 3 grams over 3 metres. Hole 84 intersected 3 metres of 12.4 grams at a depth of 446 metres.
The last two holes of the current program are nearing completion.
The new lens is more than 250 metres long, at least 300 metres wide and open at depth. “The discovery of this new lens and its size show the excellent potential to outline similar lenses along this 3-km-long gold structure,” says GeoNova President Andre Fortier.
At year-end, the Desjardins project was reported to host resources of 1.6 million tonnes grading 5.1 grams over 5.4 metres (equivalent to 260,000 contained ounces), including 1.1 million tonnes of 6.3 grams gold over 3.6 metres.
GeoNova also is exploring other properties in Quebec, including the Chevrier project, south of Chibougamau.
