LATIN AMERICA — Ecuador commissions airborne survey

The government of Ecuador and the World Bank are collaborating on an airborne magnetic survey over the portion of the Cordillera Occidental that occupies the country.

Watts Griffis & McOuat and SIAL Geosciences are participating in the program, as is Prodeminca, a government organization responsible for promoting mining in Ecuador.

Flying of 46,000 line km began in January and is expected to wrap up by May. A map is to be made available in the following months. Ground mapping, funded by the Overseas Development Bank, is being accomplished by Mission Brittanica.
