Underground drilling at the Madsen mine in northwestern Ontario has extended the West McVeigh zone 30 metres along strike.
Similarly, three surface holes testing the parallel Austin zone suggest that it too remains open along strike. All pierced the footwall, returning 4.4 metres grading 9.6 grams, 2.4 metres grading 7.2 grams, and 1.1 metres grading 14.7 grams.
Claude plans to resume production at Madsen in the second half of 1999, with total gold production for the year targeted at more than 30,000 oz. The company will shortly begin dewatering the shaft to below the 16th level.
